Disaster Dentistry
BC-FORT team members present one-day continuing dental education courses for interested dentists, allied dental personal and others. This course is an introduction to disaster victim identification and is a pre-requisite for anyone interesting in becoming a member of the response team. Disaster Dentistry course participants learn BC-FORT's data recovery and analysis protocols, how to accurately enter dental data into the WinID computer program, and how to interpret potential identifications generated by WinID. Each participant completes numerous forensic comparisons of actual antemortem and postmortem records from these potential identifications. Courses are held on Saturdays at venues such as The Justice Institute of BC (New Westminster), BC Institute of Technology (Burnaby) and Malaspina University-College (Nanaimo). Six CDE credits are awarded. Please contact BC-FORT for information on the next Disaster Dentistry course.
